Implementation Guide Rainforest Alliance
Rainforest Alliance is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to conservation. In 2009 alone, the Rainforest Alliance certification seal graced over 193 millions metric tons of coffee. The Implementation Guide was developed to help coffee growers in Latin America navigate through the complex system of certification standards.
Research for this guide included field trips through Guatemala, Peru and Costa Rica and multiple interviews with experts from Columbia, Mexico and other coffee-producing areas. The resulting 150-page guide provides an in-depth view of certification guidelines as well as concrete examples for its application. Originally written in Spanish, translated into English and now in use not only in Latin America, but also in coffee growing regions in Asia and East Africa.
